Evaluation of the Phenotype

The phenotype of each strain was evaluated at Department of Agriculture, Miyazaki University ( Miyazaki ) and at the National Agricultural Research Center for Hokkaido Region( Sapporo ).

Growth condition

The National Agricultural Research Center for Hokkaido Region

The seeds were sown on peat moss (Jiffy-7) on May 10, 2004. Seedlings were transplanted from greenhouse to the field on Jun. 17. They were planted 30 cm apart from each other with a 50 cm ridge between fields. The phenotype of the strain was evaluated by taking 5 individuals from a section with 4 repetitions. Sections were arranged by randomized block design.

Miyazaki University

The same as above. The seeds were sown on May 21 and transplanted to field on Jun. 30.

 Evaluation of the Phenotype

Conditions for assessment

The plants were photographed on Jul. 21-23 at the National Agricultural Research Center for Hokkaido Region. The pictures of seeds were taken with a digital microscope (Keyence) with a magnification of 50. The scale bar indicates 1 mm.
